PC or PS2 in DVD case?
In a slim DVD case, would it be possible to replace it with PC parts, or PS2 parts?

No, I was honestly confused. (Sometimes I take things too literally.)
He never said it was a "slim dvd player" case, just a "slim dvd" case, which I associate to the 1/2 width DVD cases that come in multi-disc sets. Sorry.

I was thinking the same thing. Though, I have more of an excuse to think that, as I was thinking of cramming an embedded board in about 3 or 5 hollowed out DVD video cases from Block Buster (they remove DVDs from normal cases to put in thier special ones, and give away the normal ones) and printing out DVD covers, and then run it as a small server.bicostp wrote:No, I was honestly confused. As far as cramming PC in a DVD player, it should be no trouble. You might even get lucky and the DVD drive is IDE, so you can just use that for your optical drive. (most Apex players use IDE drives)
Great, now I'm thinking about the DVD box server, again... I need to find an interesting use for a server with about 32MB of storage and one 10Mbit ethernet port.

Im in the process of putting my xbox into a VCR case, but building a PC dvd bezel into the front to allow the drive to eject nice (or just use the VCR flat).
Im building into the front a Hip Gear screen and pushing in as much air as possible, probably going to build my wireless control pad senders in the case too.
I started a DVD case project before but screwed up the moving of the front panel as the DVD drive would have sat direct ontop of the xbox GPU if the position wasnt moved.
When the project is moving I will get some pics up.

Ah, this thread probably is how the idea to put an X-Box in my old AD-500W got stuck in my head. I probably won't do it, unless a friend of a friend decides to give away his not working X-Box. No idea what is wrong with it, but if it isn't the motherboard that is bad, I could mod it to at least a semi-functional state.
I made some progress last night, I mounted the DVD drive which ejects through the gap where the tape used to go, but its just an open gap at the moment
I have also mounted the HD which is just screwed to the side of the plastic case with 2 screws, may need more support when its spinning so may need to make a plexi stand or something.
Also... I took apart an old PC case I got given as it had a LCD inside which displayed the temps, this is going to go where the old VCR display screen was.
Just have to be paitent now for the screen off ninjai, he has sold me one and I Paypal'ed the money the other day but I have plenty of other things to move on with.
Will get some pics up soon.
