Using a different CD Drive on the PSOne Portable

Hey. During my pre-build testing, I've noticed the excruciating lack of anti-skip on the PSOne's CD drive. Does anyone know if it's possible to use a different CD drive (such as one from a portable CD player) to run the unit? Thanks.

unlikely i have not tested but its a different interface and it would involve a lot of work so i do need believe it is viable if possible

Anti-skip is a software buffer, isn't it? I'm pretty sure it is.

its a ram device ps2 is cool coz u can take the game out and it doesnt stop

Also, the PSOne spins the disc at 2x. Audio CD players spin it at 1x. So, even if it worked, it would take twice as long to load.

It might be posibal because a guy figerup out how to turn a old computer CD drive into a car CD palayer with very little work

That's because many CD-ROM drives have support for CDDA (audio discs) in hardware. Anti-skip is software.

Yeah I built a CD Player system a few years back using a drive that was kicking around

Just need:

CD-ROM with Headphone Jack
Computer Power Supply or other 12v power supply
set of small computer speakers or equiv.
