PS One Screen - How fragile

If you're making a portable you probably need something to watch it on. (Unless you want to guess what's happening in the game, but I wouldn't advise that) Anyway, this forum is your "Hacking a pocket TV/screen" one-stop solution. Share your experiences and knowledge here.

PS One Screen - How fragile

Post by Radon199 »

Ok I bought my PSOne screen today and it should arive sometime this week. I'm gonna go get the rest of my LEDs and stuff tommorow or tuseday depending on how soon my local Radio Shack is getting the new "Source" stuff in (Never try and make a portible during a corperate takeover).

Anyways... the real question how fragile is the PSOne screen? I've read on some screen sites that if you chip the screen. Bam its gone. So how hard is it to break?

The other day somebody said that it broke if you even touched it. I know how you feel about the source. Hopefully, they will be better than RadioShack, and go back to selling useful stuff.

...you need to touch it to get the light out... so people seem to be touching it... just not sure how much pressure is alowed.

CDs? fragile? you gotta be kidding me. I have dropped CDs on end, and they bvounced and rolled away. I had a burned copy of a Bill Engvall CD* that got a pretty nasty gouge taken out of it on the plastic, non-label side. I just took some crazy-fine sandpaper to it and finished off with Turtle Wax. IT STILL WORKED!

Well, it is a thin piece of glass. Modifying mine I was able to press fairly firmly. But I mostly used my finger nails between the metal shielding and plastic to pry it open, touching the screen as little as possible.
