M64 (+Questions)

I finally got into my N64 with a $7 screwbit and the tearing and screaming method.. lol.. and have some ideas for my portable but I have a few more small concerns..

Is the memory card slot moveable like the game slot?
Would it be the same type of procedure as in ben's book?
Would it be better to just rip apart a memory card and perminently seal it inside the system?

I've got to work for about 6 hours today but I hope to work on some idea sketches to post tonight..

do you mean the 'Memory Card' present in the controller, or the "expanision pack' for the console itself, if your talking about the exapnision pack, your better off taking its casing off carefully, and devising a heatsink system to keep it from overheating, if your looking for ways to do that, there are a ton in other parts of this forum

the controller.. memory card.. not the expansion slot.. the same one where ud put a rumble pack or the gb expansion..

then probably yes, just tear apart a trusty memory card, not one that required the usage of buttons, or better yet get a rumble pack that has a memory card built in, just for kicks, and imbed that in your system, though be careful to insert the memory card the correct way, as it will go into the memory card slot both ways, when not inside the one way only controler harness

I may experiment/ruin a controller to see if i can get it to work..

well.. before i said id sketch some images of what im going to do..

and here it is..

I was lucky and acquired a GC hipgear screen for only $29 Canadian the other day at a Future Shop (of all places)... so I'm going to mod it to take in the video out that most systems do (im not picky about quality, looks nice already)..

I'm going to need help tho cause I have no information on the hipgear screen at all and how to work with stuff on the inside.. so any help on that would be appreciated.. and how much power does it use.. is the 7.2V battery i have enough to power it..????????

EDIT: CRAP CRAP CRAP CRAP.. i just realized from another topic about the Voltage not being high enough for the n64..

still.. comment.. I got to edit the screen and make a similar unit using an NES anyway..

your concept designs look nice, is the screen removable? cuase if so thats not a half bad idea, also i wish ya luck w/ ur controller, and im not sure exactly how you would power the 3.3v rail off a 7.2v input, maybe poke around and research that a little..., if i find anythying ill let ya know..., otherwise it looks good so far, also what input power does the screen take, ie: what does its power adapter output, or what kinds of batteries does it take?

i've heard hip gear screens take 12v so 7.2v batteries might not be enough

WR: about the power in the hipgear screen.. heres the exact wording on the ac adaptor

(**WARNING** NOOB STATEMENT ALERT) I just figured the screen had a regulator on the inside.. I havent succesfully removed it from the controller yet..

I dont understand how to check that kind of stuff very well cause I havent done anything like this since 12 Physics (first semester) and im now 21.. so its been awhile..

The hipgear only has a regulator (goes down to 8V) for the audio amp. The screen portion has no regulator.

voltage has hardly anything, if not nothing, to do with size. the thing it probably doesn't use a lot of is amps
