I think it's some file in the WINNT folder. Or maybe files in the /profiles directory. Either way, get a boot floppy image, boot off of it, and look around for anything like "user.cfg" or something.

They might be encrypted.

Or you might be able to install a keystroke recorder, to record what they type...

I hate how my schools computer network is mainly based around macs. It means that PCs are in the three least-used, unaccessable-outside-of-class labs.

And the run...cmd thing works.

I need to learn more about DOS, when I'm in the language lab for Italian, there's like a fifteen minute buffer time when the teacher tries to figure out exactly what shes doing, do it wrong, and fiddle around til she gets it right. I was going to put Tetris Solitaire and Freecell on a floppy so I have something to do.

And do keyloggers work when logged off?

I suppose if you really want a computer prank, you should give him the virus of the little man randomly peeking over the address bar, but I'd rather go with a non-computer prank myself. If you can get a human dummy, you gotta try putting clothes on it and a noose around it's neck, and hang it in the bathroom with the light off at night. And although you can't do it on your dad, one prank I really want to do sometime is to wear a realistic fat suit to the first day of school, and keep it on for a while. After about a month or so, when you're in one of your classes, just randomly say,"Man, it's hot in here. No, it's really, REALLY HOT!" And take just take off the suit and say,"Oh, MAN! that's so much better." And pretend like nothing happened.

To get into command prompt, go into notepad (You should be able to access this right?) and type "call cmd.exe" without quotation marks or course. Then name the file cmd.bat or whatever.bat, and set the file type to "all types". This should give you access to command prompt. Ifd this dosnt work, you can also try command.com instead of cmd.exe . Hope this helps. Other useful commands include "net view" (lets you view computers online on the network), and shutdown (you cal technically do remote shutdowns with this command!) http://www.computerhope.com/shutdown.htm Enjoy!

On the locked amchines at my old school, all you had to do was type "C:" in Internet Explorer (w/o quotes) and POOF! All-access!

at my school we installed firefox and we had access to everything one of the teachers left it logged in and we changed his screensaver to XXX

Anyways, thanks for posting shutdown instructions, that's awesome. I am using that for a mega prank at school next week. Everybody in my Planning class loved "net send", and I know I can get atleast 30 friends to help me out. I made a batch file that I will put on floppys and hand out, then we will try to sneek in and find a teacher's computer that is logged in, and WHAM! They wont know what hit them. Odds are, I will have to use my old English teachers computer at 7AM, so I have it on a timer. Yes, thats when I go to school, so it wont look suspicious when people see me there. If I really feel like braking the law, I can sneek into the school at midnight. Or I can go the night of a dance or concert.

My new favorite batch file (with 2 hour delay):

BTW: Does anybody know why you have to set the current directory to "C:\". I tried without it, but it just openned the command prompt and flooded it with "shutdown -r -t 7200", and yet, if I manualy went into the command prompt, it worked without changing the current directory.

you can go in about 8 because our school is in the same building as pool, and the doors leading to it are always open.
my school has very little security, but if they see you not on word they think your putting on a virus. the web blocker blocks benheck (NOOO!!!!) and joystiq, but not hackaday, even though they are on the same server, format, and have similar topics, and they censor joystiq for "message boards, even though hackaday has them.

I know. I really don't care, because the delay will make it restart when the office staff and teachers are around their computers. Hey teachers, say bye bye to those marks.

The best part about our school, is that every computer in the district is on one network. When we used "net send" last week, my friend from South said they got the message, and one of my friends little brothers said they got it at my elementary school.

yeah, same with us. my friend hacked into the elementary school data, and find peoples old usernames from 4th grade, it was pretty funny
