I bought a PSone at Gamestop today.

But that's not the bad part. On the CD spindle (the black thingy with the silver balls that spins the CD) there are 3 plastic tabs. 2 of them broke off, one when I was testing it (I did that

) and one was missing when I got it. Should I exchange the PSone, or will it work with 2 tabs if I super glue it back on?

I know this belongs in the Playstation section. Move it if you want. I just needed an answer and everybody comes to F42, not to PS.

EDIT: I just checked online, looked at the spindle under a jeweler's magnifier, and compared it to my PSX. The PSX has only 2 tabs, as do the images. Under the magnifier, one spindle-tab-hole was jagged, and one was smooth. Either this is a coincidence or I broke that tab off accidentally and am not missing one.

side note: the PSone had a bunch of (i think) yu-gi-oh metallic stickers on it, but the folks at GameStop cleaned it up (w/o removing stickers. Theyt just covered them with the price label and controller and stuff like that. I never realised how f-ing small the PSone is!

Yes, and it's fully functional. The motor is fine, the cd stays firmly in place, and there is no skipping when I shake the system while playing an old Rod Stewart CD I don't care about. I was just nervbous because I JUST REGISTERED said in my PsoneP thread that it "is defective. get another one."

another side note: I also bought a third-party memory card. GS doesn't even wipe them clean! 3 of the savestates are for games I have! WOOT! (Almost like the copy of Sonic 3 I bought with the game completed, all chaos emeralds and everything.)

I had a portable CD player from 1988 that was that big with the external battery pack.

Ain't technology amazing?

So anyways... I take it the PSone I have is fine, even if I don't glue the tab back in? (Which I will because small things like that bug me for some reason.)

normally when i pay money for stuff it'd better be perfect, or i better get a good deal if it isn't.

but if they have others, i'd swap it for anotherone.

Yeah and you can tell he really knows a lot about portable stuff

Trust me it will be fine. I had ALL the tabs break off on my old PSX and it ran fine (until the laser died
