would it be possible to play gameboy online by somehow connect the link cable to your computer??? Imagine playing four swords online, or playing a canadian guy in tetris!!!
no i mean like connecting your gameboy to your computer then connecting it to the internet. it wouldn't take that much coding since the gameboy link cable only uses two wires and i think the gba cable uses four
What madc0w is talking about is called tunneling, and from what I hear its not possible to do this with the gameboy because of the latency (lag) issue. Would be cool tho.
all you do is hook the link cable to the parallel port and then u send the serial packets through tcp/ip protocal and you basiclly created a tunnel for the gameboy.
You would need something faster than a 56k speed for this i would think.
but it's pretty simple you can find how to use the link cable to the parallel port and then u just sue a freeware software which sends packets from the parallel port to other pc's (the software is ment so u can print on printers from the net)
There is already free software that can do this it sends whatever data comes from the parallel port to the other persons pc and sends to out through there parallel port and vice versa so all u need to do is hack the cable then both download the software.
It would be better to have a special program to do this and thats very simple but if u hack the cable it's all u need to do
As Migs pointed out, there'd be latency issues. Even for turn based games, when the data was delayed the sync would be lost and the Gameboy would say "cable disconnected" or similar.
