it is called a Channel F and aperently it predates the Atari 2600 by one year (channel f=1977)

and it was the first cartrage based console but the carts asre as big as 8-track tapes
it is odd too because you can use one hand with the controller

has any one herd of this machine before today
i picked one up for $3 at a yard sale today

when i try to play it 4 green vertical bars apear on the screen and the game wont start

ah those are so easy to fix.
pop the sucker open, theres prolly like 100 parts. find the burned one and replace it. there is only like one ic chip in there i think.

and one thing, the odyssey predates that thing.....

But the Odyssey didn't have cartridges with information on them. Its "cartridges" are merely jumpers that connect parts together to make the dots on the screen appear. And FORGET about graphics! You would need overlays on your TV!

Post pics of the Channel F's insides.

I dare the next person who finds a couple to portablize it!

Someone with either the key to the legendary Nevada dump, a bunch of those things, or someone full of SAT-induced rage.

Or, if it's simple enough inside, could it be biult using Digikey or RadioShack parts?

The Odyssey was just a few transistors... hmm...

here you go a pic of the MOBO

the board is not that big a little smaller than a Atari 2600 whole MOBO

and it could be done using DIGIKEY or Radioshack parts

note it has 2 cart ports for one cart

and the button board is prettymuch just a perf board with buttons on it No traces

i second the dare done by bicostp
