Starcraft Broodwar & XP SP 2

I really want to play Starcraft/Broodwar on my XP SP 2 laptop, but when I try to connect to battle.net, it can't find a server. I am using wireless. Does Starcraft/Broodwar know how to use wireless, or do I need to use wired?

Broodwar Version 1.05

What should I do? Thanks!

EDIT: Found a patch 1.12b. What does it do?

i think you need to turn off your firewall, it thinks its a security issue

For one thing, it should be downloading the patch automatically. I have never had problems connecting with my wireless and firewall. What firewalls do you use? Are you sure that you did a full install, not just single player?

i just suggested that because when sp2 first came out, the firewall would mess up certain online games

The Windows Firewall only works when you use a browser.

Ok, first off, to play on Battle.net, you need the latest version of Starcraft, which should start to download when you try to connect to Battle.net, are you even getting that far? If not, it's probably because of XP's firewall. Starcraft needs access to certain ports to allow network traffic to go in and out. I don't recall which ports, but you can find that info somewhere on Blizzard's site. You need to find these ports and go into your firewall's settings and open these ports. This applies if you are using a hardware or software firewall. Also, the firewall monitors/restricts ALL network traffic, not just when you are using a web browser, that's what a firewall does.

Fixed by downlaoding the patch manually.
