Is it possible to slim down the slim mobo?

SO I've got a decision to make- I've got two cases for a PS3p, one being bigger then the other. I could either use the larger of the two and just slot everything in, or I could use the smaller and go for an extremely compact system. The only issue is- the smaller case is just slightly too large for my PS3 slim's mobo
Anyone know if there is a guide on the web to slimming it down? I'd just need about 2cm or so off the front and back of the board to make it fit
and a side question- is it a PS3 portable if I don't put batteries in?

Wow, been a few years since I posted here.

As for slimming down the MOBO, I can't give any advice.

As for if it's a "portable" or not, I'd say if it has a built-in controller(s), screen, and game-system in an easy-to-carry case it's portable. I know there have been a few "laptop" builds that lack batteries. That said, adding a battery pack should be easy to accomplish later if you want it.

You can not slim down a PS3 mainboard by 2 CM. Even if you tried, it is a 4-layer PCB so you WILL destroy it.

You can run the slim on 9 volts, but it is not reccomended.

OK haven't been here for a while. Modretro's having issues.

So the PS3 can be run on 9v? I suppose you'd sorta cripple it with that voltage though. Plus, larger capacity batteries are normally in 12v (in my experience)

No. We were talking about the PS2.

I dont know the PS3 hardware to well to give you a good answer, yet alone do I even know the PS2 hardware well.

While we're on the topic of power-

I'm making a PS3p, and yes, there's batteries. Would it make any difference to replace my current motherboard (65nm RSX) with the 40nm RSX? It creates less heat and uses less power, but I'm not sure if it will make any difference.
