Did you ever look into buying the RedOctane pad? For less than 100 bucks, (somewhere around 60?) you can get this one.

It seems like the rest of the pads but it is really my best one, as the metal pad I have seems to screw up my steps sometimes (no, I didn't just miss). I took this one to a party where they were playing DDR, and nobody wanted to use their own pads afterwards.

The RedOctane is a huge, correctly shaped bag containing the sensors for the arrows. You put these big foam puzzle pieces inside and then zip the thing back up. The outer bag is actually very sturdy to begin with though, and you could dance with just that, if you liked to hurt your feet.

What I've found with this is it actually made me able to do harder songs, I actually moved from standard into heavy by using this pad, but I was practicing a lot at that time too.

way ahead of you...but instead of spending 80$...im gonna buy the 20$ gamestop one for now and put a piece of plywood with the + pattern stapled to it in 2 layers of thin foam. well just for now till i get my nice pad finished.
