Portable Sega Genesis Help

I am a complete noob to the modding world. My first project to get into this is a Sega Genesis, which so far I am still obtaining one because I don't know which Genesis I need (i.e. a 1, 2 or 3). I need to know what I need to start the project so I can start it in July. I have been looking around on these forums but there aren't any straightforward "guides" to doing this. The main things I would like to know are: The type of screen I need, the case I should use, and all the tools I would need. I have a friend who knows quite a bit about electronics like this but I would like some help from the experts.

Definetly NOT a model 1...it's huge lol.

You could get away with a model 2, but it'd still be quite large. Size-wise, the model 3 is your best bet as far as original hardware goes. There's also the radica option too, for increased battery life and greatly decreased size.

Screen-wise, as long as it's got an input of some kind, like composite or RGB, it will probably work.

The old PS1 screen is still somewhat popular, tho they're getting a little harder to find these days.

As for a case, I dunno. The sky is the limit really. As long as whatever you decide to use can fit all the parts you want, it'll work lol. Personally, I love vacuum forming for cases (I do do commissions if you want a custom case vac-formed for ya ), but there are alternatives out there too. The various types of projekt boxes available from radio shack could work, as well as ones available elsewhere online, such as the ZN-40.

As for tools, basic electronic working equipment is all you need really (your electronic savvy friend probably would be able to set you up with what you need there). As for case making tools, a Dremel is your best friend lol.

Yeah, my friend suggested that PS1 screen, but they're very expensive and hard to find... I'll just use that screen you suggested and I'll be fine. And how much do you charge for cases? That would be very helpful, thank again.

The price mostly depends on size, and how much work you actually want into it (like if you want me to do the holes in addition to just the case itself). Just PM me the details when you get that far and we'll work something out

And I have all the tools, I'm going to buy a case from Metallica Man and I'm going to go from there! I am going to use AA batteries (if it's possible) which are rechargable. And I need to know what kind of speakers I need. Thanks for any help!
