NES Belt

Post by humakabula1 »

This is just a fun little project that i thought of doing whilst deciding on some more parts.
Inspiration came from Big Bang Theory, and then Kickbut101 from corpsetech.

Big thank you to Bacteria for sending me a NES controller

Here are a couple of pics of what im going from (this is not an actual controller, just a metal stamp):

^from the tv show

here is the one made by kickbut101 (made from an actual controller):

My Work:

I have already removed the controller pcb (w/ cable) and i have started to clean and glue the buttons into place.
Image
^this is what i stripped it down to, buttons and the mushy things
Image
^I removed the mushy things, kinda pointless for what im doing anyway
Image
^The stuff im working with, plus the back casing

Here is the adhesive im using:

^Here is a picture of all the buttons glued in place
Image
^My initial idea was to make it so i could simply clip in over my existing buckle, as you can see it isnt big enough
Image
^There are a couple of screws holding the buckle in place
Image
^I removed the buckle, and that stick thing next to it is a bit of coat hanger
Image
^I bent the wire so it would stay in place, but still leave enough room for the belt itself
Image
^bad pic of the inside

Image
^another bit of coat hanger i bent to use as the little hooky thing that goes in the holes.

^inside view

And here is the finished product:

In all it took me about half an hour. its a very quick and easy project!

Nice. I want to make one of those, but I can't bring myself to hack up one of like the only two NES controllers I have. :(

I bet an N64 controller could make a good matching crotch cup.

The controller belt in the show, is just a peice of metal. ThinkGeek sells them. I have one, got it years ago.

actually I have seen something like this years ago, back when I was a lil kid. Was a tv cartoon show called Captain N the GameMaster, average joe nintendo geek ends up falling into the nintendo world, ends up with a nintendo controller on his belt that would do various things, and to the side....(can already see the addition to the belt) a gun holster holding the duck hunt gun. The one thing in particular that I remember was the "pause" button, would pause everything but him, I think...not completely sure, but it consumed a lot of his controller's power....(he had to recharge it once in awhile)
