My Work:
I have already removed the controller pcb (w/ cable) and i have started to clean and glue the buttons into place.
^this is what i stripped it down to, buttons and the mushy things
^I removed the mushy things, kinda pointless for what im doing anyway

Here is the adhesive im using:

^My initial idea was to make it so i could simply clip in over my existing buckle, as you can see it isnt big enough
^There are a couple of screws holding the buckle in place
^I removed the buckle, and that stick thing next to it is a bit of coat hanger
^I bent the wire so it would stay in place, but still leave enough room for the belt itself

In all it took me about half an hour. its a very quick and easy project!
