PS2 Component Cable from PSX RF Cable

I won't dare say this is impossible, because I've seen plenty of things on this forum that would make a person thing nearlk anything is possible, but I am wondering how feasible this is.

I have an old PSX cable with a coax plug on it, instead of usual composite plugs, and this always ends up looking worse than Monday morning on my PS2, so I usually use composite. However with a new LCD tv even that doesn't look very good. How feasible would it be to mod this PSX coax cable into a component cable?

Mind you I have a fairly decent amount of experience when it comes to soldering, so I'm not afraid of getting my hands dirty. Is it a matter of just soldering cables onto the RGB output of the plug? I know component and RGB aren't the same thing, so I didn't think that would work. Also I've read about a green tint issue, but I wasn't quite clear on how that happened or if it would affect me.

I realize I could just go out and buy a component cable for $6, but that just doesn't give the same satisfaction. Thanks in advance to anybody who can help me with this.

...I guess. Sure, you could do it, you'd just need to find the pins on the connector that are for RGB and data ground. In the case of the PS2, the pins for RGB and component are the same, you select which you want in the settings menu, not in hardware.

Though I still don't get why you wouldn't buy one of these and spend your time modding something else instead.

Most of the RF adapters I've seen for PSX didn't have all the pins needed, only composite, power (for the converter) and audio (usually mono at that) pins were present. If all the pins are there, you'd be golden, otherwise you'd be better off adding the jacks to the console itself. Sync on green is a non-issue for component video, as all component video is sync on green.
