Wanted: Hip Gear Screen Pad

Post by Muniosi »

This is my first post in the Trading Post, so please bear with me.

Anyone have a Hip Gear screen pad? I don't care what system it's for. I'm willing to pay $20.00 to start with, but I'll go higher if I have to.

http://cgi.ebay.com/Mini-3-5-TFT-LCD-Ca ... 563e56d196 I told you in your other thread that the hip gears are harder to find now and tend to be overpriced now, no point in using them when there are cheaper better options on ebay, dealextreme etc

I have one, but I would need at least $45 shipped for it.

Unless you have a real legitimate reason to need a Hip Gear screen for your project. (Seriously, If you got a real legitimate reason please tell us.)

What triton showed you is just as good as Hip Gear screen and is way cheaper to get.

I gave you a link to an affordable alternative to what you were asking for. I'd consider that helpful, but if you dont want the help I offer that isnt MY fault

But you see, I want a screen pad for a Game Grrl. If I use that screen, I probably won't be able to run the screen AND the Super Joy off of four AA's, would I?

that specific screen out of the box i'm not sure, it would probably run on ~6 volts, you could use a boosting regulator or whatever. do some reading in the screen section, ask around and do some research instead of just blindly following a how-to. But if you really want to spend 45+ dollars on a hip gear screen pad instead of learning how to use something else nobody is going to stop you, best of luck whatever you decide!

If you use this screen and this boost regulator (or similar), you will have a more efficient and better looking (picture quality-wise) game grrl.

Er, okay, but which regulator do I want? And how do I get it? And will I be able to run the screen and the Mega Joy off of 4 AA's?

you won't get very good battery life if you. did that, really. I would grab two psp batteries and wire them in series to get 7.4v

Okay, so how much battery life do you think I could get out of AA's?

rechargable AAs i assume? maybe 2-3 hours at best? AAs are notorious for having the voltage sag a great deal when under heavy load, 4.8 is nominal voltage but you put a 500mAh draw on them it could dip down to ~4v or less pretty quickly
