Radica housing + SD genesis?

Post by pubby8 »

I am thinking about purchasing a SD plug+play genesis console:
http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/s ... r.37968431" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
And then putting it inside a radica housing with the SD slot coming out where a normal genesis cartridge would come out.

I could then buy some very very cheap SD cards and have them resemble genesis carts (I could glue black plastic to them to form rectangle and paste genesis labels onto).

Also, would it be possible to wire genesis controller ports to the chip? I know the plug+play has a single controller port, but was wondering if 2 is possible.

I am new to this (very little experience) and so would appreciate your opinions. Is this something a newcomer could achieve?

Novel idea about cramming it into a Radica Genesis casing. Looking at random pics of the internals from the Deal Extreme page's thread, it looks like it would fit fairly easily into a Radica casing. Do look into the issues listed by other users though, you may need to flash it with new firmware to use it on NTSC (US, Canada, etc.) TVs and/or remove a SMT resistor to get the signal to the correct levels.

Judging from this http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.30530" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and this http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.30606" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; you can use a second controller on it.
