Gaming PC

I'm makin a gaming PC and i was wonderin what should I have in the box? not in terms as lights and stuff but as in good graphics and good sound and not slow and some good memory
keep in mind i'm makin a mini-itx
so it has to be small but good

i'm also looking for somthing else, my friend recived a used comp with what looked like a flash card reader drive just on the thing and it looked pretty cool, but i can't seem to find it on google hence the name of it could some one please post the name?

i wouldnt recomend a small box it does not give you much airflow and that is important for a gaming pc

G-Force 4 MX4000-7200 Graphics Card, Compatible with a lot of games, top quality graphics, TV out.

Go with the 4000 (earilest model) if you want to play Doom III, the others I've tried it with don't work

Half life 2 paled in comparison to the original. Anyway...

Why on earth would you go for a Geforce 4 when there are several generations above that cost only a little more and give far better performance? And has nobody thought to tell the guy that mini-itx is a really bad idea for a gaming system, even if he goes for the P4 mobo?

Huh? I have a GeForce 4 and every game has played Flawlessly on it, including Unreal Tournament 2004, Half Life 2 Demo, Halo Demo and others, and no graphical breakdowns and other assorted crap has happened to me.

Actually Half Life 2 was better than the original... well, I've only played the Demo, but the demo rocks.

open up ut 2004, in the console type stat_fps , play a match and tell uss the average at the end of the match.

i would reccomend my videocard except for the fact i dont think any one makes it any more....

its a 5700 ultra w/ DDR3 only 128 megs of ram on it though...for the price ($150) it was an awsome deal at the time, it performed better than any other 5xxx series card and better than early 6xxx or right on....didnt have all the looks as a 6xxx but whe your playing doom 3 or something and its running frame rates better or the same as them thats sayin something....

stock the 5700 ultra w/ DDR3 is 495/950...i bump it to 500/1000 to be even, 128 bits on the ram...

a MX 4000 is weak compared to it at 250/400 Mhz and a max of 64 bits on the ram

get the best video card you can you will not regret it if you have to get small ram and hard disc uprgrade them later (they are cheap)

I'm not saying you'll get problem with a GF4, I'm saying that it is no longer value for money.

I have a Radeon 9200m in my laptop, and an All-In-Wonder 9600 PRO in my desktop, both work great for whatever I'm doing. I'd obviously recommend the 9600 though, because it's a great card.

You guys are making my PC feel old. It's only got an nVidia GeForce TNT2 64MB card.

Not too bad for free, though!
