RGB modding?

Hi,

I'm looking into buying a PSOne screen for my portable N64 and am wondering if it needs my N64 needs to be RGB Modded. I have a rev 5 board . I would like to use component for the PSOne if I can. Thanks,

Component != composite. Composite is the single yellow plug (which the N64 outputs and the PSOne screen inputs, no modding necessary). Component is much higher quality. Component is similar to RGB (you can make a converter circuit), but they aren't quite the same. The PSOne screen takes in RGB and composite.

You can use composite to your PSOne screen without any modding. However, RGB is a bit higher quality, but would require modding your N64. You also would have to check to see if your N64 is a model capable of outputting RGB, here:

Edit: Just saw that you have a revision 5 board, which is not RGB-moddable (up to revision 4 can be RGB modded). So I'd just go with composite.

^That looks like the cheapest one I could find. There's also a particular Zenith screen that is exactly the same internally as the PSOne screen - I have both an official Sony screen and that Zenith and I can verify they're exactly the same. Unfortunately, I can't find the link to the seller I bought it from on eBay for $42.95 shipped. But $3 more than I paid for the Zenith screen isn't bad either.
