Shenmue. When I think of the Dreamcast, that game always comes to mind. To me, it was a revolutionary title that doesn't get as much credit as it deserves. Soul Calibur was another great game that made its first console appearance on the Dreamcast. You could also do a Resident Evil themed console, which would work out extremely well if you're planning to sell it.

The Sonic case idea is pretty cool, especially with the embedded stones.

Try wiring the LEDs in parallel with your speakers and see if you like how that performs. The varying power going to the speakers would cause the LEDs to pulse with the music to some extent.

Alternatively, you might try playing around with this circuit: http://www.acidmods.com/forum/index.php ... 600.0.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and here's an LM386 pinout to give you an idea of what's going on in the previous diagram: http://www.hobby-hour.com/electronics/l ... -audio.php" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Looks like they have an LM386 tied into the speaker outputs, and using that as an amp to power the LEDs. Probably makes them a bit more flashy than just directly hooking the LEDs up to the speakers.

Should be a pretty straightforward, low cost, easy mod to do. Cool idea for your portable!
