Case Cost

Okay, I've decided to try my hand at the portable N64, and I think I'll do okay on the wiring part, though the case might give me some problems. I've been looking over the possible cases I could use, and I'd definitely prefer a nice case. To me, putting so much work into it and have it look bad is a bit of a waste.

I have access to a number of machines in my area, though I'm not necessarily skilled at using them. I looked at vacuum forming, but I don't know how I'd go about making a mold for it. So I'm still unsure which direction I'll go to make it.

I was wondering how much I should expect to pay to make a nice looking case. My current budget is around $75 (for the case alone), though I would be willing to bump it up to at least $125 if necessary.

you could use engraving plastic and metal like in bens book

Can't you make a vaccum-form mold with boxes and hard modeling clay (the kind that gets rock hard when you bake it)?

If you're handy with woodworking tools, carve one out of wood.

Yeah. My artistic talent is, oh, NONEXISTANT! Whatever I make without Photoshop looks like ####. But give me Photoshop, and I'll give you almost anything.

That's probably why I'll try to cram the whole GOAC thing into the Xbox HipGear screen controller!

I already have 5.5 (my dad got it through work) and 7.0 (relatives). I just meant I can do a lot with it. For example, one of my classmates is VERY bigoted against the French, so I took a bunch of picxs off the 'net and made him the stereotype of the French, complete with bread, striped shirt, beret, and cigarette!

Not to mention all the programs I mooched off my classmates!

that green foam that you get at the floral or fabric dept at walmart would be easy to make a mold out of, then cover it in aluminum foil before suckage. a dremel or the tools schools use for working with clay (these scraper looking things) would be easiest for making the mold
