ok so today i got my NES mobo, 3 controller ports and a power/reset...
first off....i dont have a multimeter so i cant tell (i might get one sunday if its cheap enough) does any one know off the top of their head the voltage comming off the power LED on that small PCB with the power/reset buttons?
and as for revisions...my NES and the NES mobo i got both have a bulit in 1987 date on them....i know it came out earlier than that so were there any major differences between the begining of the US release and these 1987 boards?
and after 1987 were there any more revisions? (other than the obvious top loading system)

No offense, but that doesn't sound to bright (no pun intended). The extra lights would make the device suck up power from the batteries faster, leaving you with less time to play.

LEDs don't take very much power. It's true that it will increase power usage some, but using an original NES motherboard for the portable in the first place is gonna drain power pretty quick itself. I don't think adding LEDs is going to be too big of a problem as far as battery life goes. In fact, LEDs use such little power compared to conventional lighting, they're often used in screen modifications to offer lighting when the original backlighting required too much power (and caused a large drain on the battery life).
