I'd consider upping the HDD size, that's kind of small. Otherwise it seems pretty good.

Well I will be using my 20GB iPod as an external and I may switch the HDD with a 80 GB I have in the computer I am using currently.

I mean it's a pentium 3 500 Mhz, 128 MB RAM PC. Why does it need a 80 GB HDD?

Because you can take that hard drive and put it in your next computer.

The parts you listed are good for the price.

Actually, frommy experience, Seagate and Hitachi are the best, whereas Maxtor and Western Digital suck. I've also talked to a lot of others who believe the same thing.

You might want to consider bumping up the graphics card as well if you want to play anything like Unreal Tournament 2003. I know, I had a 7500 for a couple years. Check out: http://labs.anandtech.com/search.php?q=radeon+9200 . Here it says that you can get a Radeon 9200SE 128MB for $45 shipped. 9200's aren't powerhouses but they're a heck of a lot better than a 7000.

Also, don't forget to factor in shipping and tax. I don't know where you got your prices but check places like that anandtech.com link above, pricewatch.com, and newegg.com. Good luck

For the price it's good, but the graphics card is a generation or two behind what you should consider purchasing at that price. I'd also go for the 2500 rather than the XP, since it's a tiny bit cheaper and often overclocks better (it should be able to reach 3200 without any extra cooling). When you get it, check the PSU's output on the 5v line - if it's going beneath 4.8/4.9 volts you may well experience system instability. PSU's that come with cases tend to be quite dodgy, the rating on them doesn't mean much...
