eBay - What do you want in a video game store?

It is a simple question in theory. In practice though, there is a whole lot more that goes on behind the scenes.

My friend and I have a vintage video game store on eBay, and we are taking every action to make sure we give the best possible experience to the buyers. This is one of those actions. Asking people who we would assume would be possible buyers what they would want us to do.

We clean each game, taking off the stickers, and the sticky gunk it leaves behind. We test every game, and the ability to save (if possible). We clean every console, sometimes inside and out. Refurbish certain parts (72pin on the NES, batteries on games/memory cards) to make sure the the buyer gets the best looking product possible.

And that is only what we do to the product itself.

We take pictures of every single item. Not stock photo's, no recycled pictures. You will always see exactly what you are buying. The pictures themselves are not blurry, well lit, and of every angle. Case in point NES games. You see the front, back, and the top of the label so you can see that it is 100% in-tact. We are currently updated the page to include a link to hi-res images (1000x800). Even still, if you are not 100% satisfied with the images, you can request more (done by a game by game basis. Really, you want better pics of Top Gun? Really?). Still not good enough? We have you covered. We will shoot a video, for you, of the game, and of it being played, ploaded to youtube, just for you.

Furthermore, when we get an order, it will be shipped the next day after payment is received. You will also get a message from us on eBay letting you know it shipped with tracking info. The packaging also is something we take great pride in. If you order a boxed NES game. We will NEVER ship in a bubble mailers. To us, that is unacceptable. We will bubble wrap it, in a box. Loose games will be in bubble mailers, but will also have an extra layer of bubble wrap. We do not want your game to be damaged.

Why? We are collectors, and we know how we would want to be taken care of.

The question stands though, are we missing anything?

NO that all sounds good. If you had little cardboard inserts for the games, you'd be how Funcoland used to be.....

We found a couple more things to add to us perfecting "extra helpful" eBay experiance. We get a decent amount of "My NES game doesn't work" "My NES doesn't work" (because that is a pain of a system to get working sometimes.) . We are goingto print out a "How to take care of and clean your games and system guide" for each type of product. We already kind of have that in our About Me Section. this will jut make it much more accesible for them. Along with that making videos demonstrating each task the correct way.

Any other ideas?

Thanks. We make an effort to be the best we can at this. No shortcuts, no "good enough". Take pictures of everything, clean everything, test everything, FULL disclosure.

I guess asking this question has helped show us that we are doing a good job.
