some light on a first edition tamagotchi?

I was wondering if a front or back light could be put in a first gen tamagotchi...that is the 1996-97 one...i just found one in my closet and even though im a grown man, im playing it (im not sure if playing is the right term..more like taking care of a bunch of pixels) out of nostalgy. But when it's dark at night i can't see anything...so would that be possible?

Should be. It would be a matter of fitting an LED to the edge of the LCD, without breaking the LCD.
