is it worth starting a modding club at school?

i really want to start a modding club at school to see if anyone in my neighborhood is also interested in modding. but im not so sure how common the interest is beyond the internet. my idea would start out with simple things like modding the rings on xbox controllers and adding leds to the playstation buttons on ps3 controllers. then hopefully we could get into more complicated things like metal and wood case work. our teacher would be the internet and outside sources, and we would be constantly challenging ourselves to create things. we might even get to the point of selling stuff if we get good enough. any opinions and modding project ideas would be appreciated. what kinds of things do you guys do?

i was thinking i would start activities like: swapping leds in the xbox 360 controllers, adding leds to ps3 controllers, having a spray painting and design work competition on xbox controller shells (the winner would get their choice of a brand new modded or unmodded wireless controller), wood and metal working on xbox cases, etc. is this a good list? does anyone have other ideas?

Try setting up 'workshops' in which you get people to add leds or AC adaptors to things; this way you will have wider interest than experienced modders and the school will be more... tollerant of what ecentricities you may introduce.

im not sure if they have a cad machine. i know they have a metal arts studio so im hoping to pull in some of those people for case work and design

we do random sh!t
computer games, 3dsMAX, modding etc.
