Mario Sunshine is the first to come to mind. Virtually unplayable without the analog portion of the L and R buttons.

Zelda. Unless you don't want a shield or you don't want to lock on.
EDIT: Oh you meant the trigger and click at the end? Then I don't know haha

Yeah I was thinking about mario..lifeisbetterwithketchup wrote:Mario Sunshine is the first to come to mind. Virtually unplayable without the analog portion of the L and R buttons.
I was also thinking I could just connect the third connection of the slider thingy to a tact and the the clicker connection thingy to the same tact.

if mario sunshine needs it thats all you need to know so do not remove it i dont care if your going to burn it afterwards dont kill marios chances of making people wet!
Re: How many games actually need it?
well actually i have played sunshine with a controller that only has tacts for the l an R, and it was actually playable, the analog part of the triggers isn't really necessary i find in any game ( except maybe driving games)

Re: How many games actually need it?
I highly doubt that. I tested it the other day and if it only had the tacts it would just make Mario stand in one position.

Although i haven't played sunshine, perhaps the controller he was using had the tacts to also "fake" the analog to 100%

turns out i looked more closelly at my controller and it's info, and they say it has pressure sensors, so it fakes the analog triggers, it is a bit worse, but iit is so small, i might use it in a portable

Pressure sensing tacts? hmmm.
Oh and, Smooth, the word you are looking for is "potentiometer".
Unless you only play a handful of games, the potentiometers in the L and R buttons are a must.
Games that need it:
Metroid Prime 1&2
Zelda (all of them)
Smash bros melee
Resident evil (all the gamecube ones need it)
Beyond good and evil
mario sunshine
you get the idea

Re: How many games actually need it?
I thought all rubber tacts were at least a very little bit pressure sensitive

Rip out a slidder potentiometer from a stock GC controller. Install a small spring to the slidder, put a tact on the end, and bam. got your own L and R buttons.
The limiting fact is the potentiometer. If you find a small enough one, then you could have some very small L and R buttons. But you would need to play around with the spring to make sure the sensitivity wasn't obnoxious for gameplay. I personally have been fine with the L and R from the Gamecube mini controllers as they are very small.
