Tactile switches help?

Hey,

I'm a noob who has pretty much been (barely) working on a portable n64, and recently when considering the case, I remember references about 'tactile switches'...I saw in one topic (don't remember what board it was in) where someone got some for free....should I use them, and if so, where could I get these switches (for free, if possible). Right now, I'm stuck at trying to solder the connections for the controller and the slot cart ( A HORRIBLE first experiance of soldering)...

I suggest you use them (rubber ones).
You can get them at pretty much any electronic shop.

I use these ones in my portables: Tactile Push Momentary SPST Off-(On) Switch

They do come in a pack of 50, but it's only $10USD with free worldwide postage. but for an N64p with L button and D-pad, you will use 13 of them

Hm...those switches would do the trick for modding the buttons to the case? Now (judging from the pic), am I wiring the tactile to the controller, and where on the controller am I wiring (like, some little node, or the place that the buttons originally pressed?

fine.. 14 to be exact ..damn you!!

on the normal controller when you press a button, it joins the the connection below the button. so you need to wire the tact switches to each side of where the button comes down on the controller board (sand off the black-ness where the button goes down and you will see some copper you can solder to)
