Need some help on DS Lite project

Post by MrFizz »

Hi all, I'm looking to modify mine and my girlfriend's ds lites. I made a list of all the tools and supplies I would need, does it look like I'm missing anything?

1. Are these the correct tools I'll need to disassemble the ds?
-Tri-wing and cross-wing screwdriver.
-A plastic spudger to pry the case open.
-X-acto knife.
-Jewelers pliars.
-Small flathead and philips head screw drivers.
2. I would like to modify the status lights by replacing them with different colored LEDs.
-I apparently need 0603 SMD LEDs, correct?
-Will these work? and are they the correct voltage?
-Also, are these LEDs user replaceable or will I need to solder them in? (Is there a tutorial or video for replacing these LEDs?)

Thanks in advance!

1. I've taken DSLs apart with just the tri-wing and small philips screwdrivers. It's pretty straightforward.

2. You'll be soldering to replace those LEDs. There's no way around that. Your link isn't working, so I don't know if those will work. As for a tutorial, http://lmgtfy.com/?q=DS+LED+tutorial" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Okay, that's just weird. I could access that link at work, but not at home.
