Is it possible to make a combo handheld?

Post by thomasbradley »

I specifically want to make a portable Gamecube and I think it would be cool to incorporate my Gameboy Color. Thanks :D

Gamecube on one side and Gameboy on the other? There isn't an easy way for both of them to hook up to the same screen. If you wanted a combo unit, you would be better off making a Gamecube/SNES combo, and just use a Super Gameboy with it. Then it would almost be like a 3 in 1.

why would it be harder? difficulty of finding the right components for the GBA aside, how would the seperate signals interfere with eachother with only one on?

You can get accessories for the gba that allow AV out.

It has nothing to do with interfering signals. Getting Video Out from a Gameboy is difficult, for the same reasons why you can't use Gameboy screens in portables. Completely different ways of displaying video.

Good thought on the Gameboy player! Hadn't thought of that.

Also do you think following the footsteps of Hailrazer and using a Lazer Doodle would be a good idea? Even if I didn't incorporate the Gameboy Player?

That was my thoughts exactly, I wanted something new, so that's why I wanted to make a combo system. I've also been scavenging my friends house and mine to find something I could use as a case.

Do you mean his all-in-one system?

We also don't talk about him here, and we'll leave it at that.

No, he did an N64 advance. An N64 and GBA in one unit.
