hello everyone, i found this site through searching google about this issue
today i decided to get the gamecube out and do the laser mod for burnt games. i have the SD media launcher and all that.....but my issue is after i done the mod, all audio stopped working. video is fine
i did play some games before doing this mod last night, so i know the sound worked before hand.........not really sure what the laser mod would have to do with sound, if anything, but i did set it back to stock ohms which was at 195 just to troubleshoot before posting this thread, still no go.
i made sure all the wires on the inside didnt get crimped in the process, everything is connected fine on the inside, and all wires running to the tv inputs are fine.....tried to jiggle the cords to make sure they didnt short out with no luck there either....pretty much out of options at this point.
any suggestions or ideas you guys could throw at me would be very appreciated
thanks for taking the time to read this, hope someone can give me some tips

Sound fix will prolly do the trick:

With the board facing that way, connect the 5V line of the powerboard pins (far right side of the board, top right most pin) to the lower end of that capacitor shown in the picture (little black looking thing). It may look different on your board, but it will be the same area.

thanks for the reply, i will look into that. would you know why the audio went out to begin with though? i wouldnt figure adjusting the laser would have done it since its not on the same board as the a/v connectors.....just curious what would have caused it

You are correct, the laser does not effect whether audio is outputted or not. If you had dinged up the laser, then at worst you would hear static, but you would still hear something, especially at the startup menu which does not even use the laser.dt2010 wrote:thanks for the reply, i will look into that. would you know why the audio went out to begin with though? i wouldnt figure adjusting the laser would have done it since its not on the same board as the a/v connectors.....just curious what would have caused it
As for the sound going out, it remains a mystery to me. I almost wonder if it is a technical flaw on Nintendo's part regarding the sensitivity of the motherboard. I have gotten motherboards in the mail that were untouched but did not have sound. They then outputted sound after I used the "sound fix".
Somehow, the sound chip stops getting 5v and this causes you to lose audio. So then when you bridge the 5v line to the said capacitor, it completes the connect giving you sound again.
