Be more specific. Button meaning the plastic piece that sits on the rubber dome? The rubber dome itself? A tact switch? The board trace?

If it's the plastic piece, you could glue it back together, or carve one out of wax or wood, and make a casting with casting resin.

If it's the rubber dome, you should be able to find replacements online, they used to sell repair kits for the NES.

If it's a tact switch, just order a new one, they're cheap.

That's a lot of pieces

I've never desoldered my on / off switch, but I'm guessing you could replace it with any switch from some junk electronics.

Bypass it like this:

If you connect the pins with solder like this, it will be the same as if the power switch is permanently turned on. Now all you need is a switch that that makes a connection between your battery and the n64, so you can power it on and off that way.

You only really need to bridge 5-6 and 7-8. 1-2 and 3-4 do nothing.

Why bypass it? (Unless you testing as he is I guess...) I see no point to it later on.

Just add any switch you like later on, because a portable without a switch?...

you bypass it so that you can tie everything (screen, batteries, & system) together in 1 switch. if you don't, the batteries will drain super fast since it would be sending power to the board constantly. i learned this the hard way with the handyduo back in the day.

of course you always have the option of leaving the n64 power switch on the board and always turned on, and having another switch at the battery that turns the whole system on/off. doesn't waste power that way.

that does the exact same thing as bypassing the switch. makes much more sense to remove it to save room. besides, his broke.
