
Case is 3 wooden frames I got from hobby lobby, glued together with the bottom cut out of one. I've epoxied and bondo'd the buttons from a 3rd party pad into the top.

Revision 4 n64 mobo.

I was so happy when I finally got the display working. It's a 7" lcd from a portable tv, accepts rgb straight to the panel's board, so I've done the rgb mod to the n64.

I've removed part of the ground trace on the board so I have somewhere stable to mount the connector for the display.

As I'm using rgb, I've tossed the tuner board from the tv, takes up way too much space also.
I'd already done the cart relocation and everything was working smooth.......
Had a fan to cool everything, closed up the case, powered up and......
ZZZZaaaappppp.
A loose wire I'd missed hung down into the fan, and stalled the motor, effectively shorting my 5V rail to ground. (I was powering the fan off the 5v regulator since the 12v was too noisy).
The short took out all of my a/v section. Confirmed this by heading back to the lab and probing around a bit with the scope.
The board itself still works fine, a/v section is completely dead. Unless there's some master component that might've blown and saved the dacs, it's toast until I repair it.
So I ran down to the used game store on campus to snag another n64, not expecting it to be a rev3 or rev4 board, but knowing that my backup n64 was an earlier unit. I get back, open up my backup n64, only to find that it's a rev5. So I open up the one I just bought, and it's a rev6.
Remembering that my brother had recently bought one, I called him up.
He read the serial number off to me, and based on the serial numbers list, it's likely that his is a rev3 or rev4 board, so I'll be trading one of mine with his this weekend.

UPDATE:
The one my bro had was indeed a revision 4, so I redid all my work, except this time I pulled the rgb from the caps on the back of the board, instead of lifting the pins and adding some passives, the picture looks much better now. A little bit of tweaking on the back of the LCD board, and the picture was beyond perfect. All the edges and lines are crisp and sharp, the colors are vibrant and lifelike. I can count the pixels on everything it's so sharp, I'm lovin' it.
I don't have the batteries done yet but I'm working on that, should have it done either tonight or tomorrow.
I've got a 2800mah 7.4v rechargable pack from a portable dvd player with built-in charging circuitry, and a 2000mah 14.8v laptop battery.
Gutted both, and I plan to string them all together in series parallel for some serious juice, provided I can find space in the case.
The back of the case gets really hot during operation, but it ran fine for at least an hour without any glitches.
I'm just using gpu heatsinks on all the chips atm, need to cut one down to put on the expansion pack.
