i was wondering if external batteries are an option, because the two batteries i purchased can only be charged one at a time, and i don't have the knowledge to find a charger to charge both at the same time in series or parallel. Then i could just get a plug at the bottom of the portable, so i could choose which batteries i wanted to use. Or if i wanted to run it off of wall power. If it draws about 450 MaH, do i need an adapter that needs to be exactly that or greater? PS, i'm going to get that voltage regulator argelfraster suggested when i get some money.

All batteries are meant to charge one at a time, unless you connect them and charge them together

they're Li-ion batteries for a CR-V3 camera, they're 3.3V, 2,000 mAh. The charger charges one at 4.2V, 600 mA.

Oh I see your problem here.
You may need to use different batteries if you want them to be internal.
Otherwise do what LOB did on one of his first portables where the batteries are both external and can be removed easily for charging and plugged back in for playing.

that's what i meant, but how would i charge them both at the same time? could i get a different charger that was meant to charge two and charge them in series that way? if so, would something like this work?

If both these batteries are in AA form then yes I suppose.
I wouldn't trust it though.
Getting new batteries would be the best choice.

ok, i'm getting new batteries, should i get some that use a step up regulator or get some that would use the regulator argelfraster posted? Pros, VS Cons. Price is also a big issue.

30 AWG it about the smallest you should go. If you're not an experienced solderer, go for something a little bigger.

I went with the 30 AWG, and it works really nicely. but before i was using 22 AWG, that was a big screw up.
Anyway, the cartage slot is half way done. pics will be uploaded soon.

i think i pulled two pins, i'm not sure. If i did, at least i have an original super Nintendo that is useless that i could scavenge for parts.



i think i pulled about the 11th from the right on both sides.


Edit: desoldered the cartage slot off of my original Super Nintendo, and is half re soldered, but i ran out of solder. Hopefully i can get some $$$ soon. I've also decided to put the controls on the case and i'm going to have a joystick instead of a D pad. Hopefully it turns out.

OK, Monday i finished soldering the card slot, and today i wired up the power to everything. When i power it on, the screen and the retro duo boots up, but there is no video or sound. The whole board is getting power, the fuse is still good, So i don't know whats wrong. Any ideas?

not to sound rude, but just to make sure you checked everything - is the cart in the correct way...? i know it can be an easy mistake to make.

edit: wait, i just noticed you soldered the cart slot to the bottom of the duo board. did you wire them properly...? they may be in reverse, which would result in nothing happening.
