N64 progress pic + controller short

Ok so i've been reading around these forums for a few months now ever since i started my portable N64. But now I need some help haha, all was going well and the portable was finished but when i joined the two halfs of the case together the controller board touched the + terminal on the battery witch made a right mess of the controller. So now the N64 will not work, ive cheaked all the voltage rails there all good. I traced back from where the controller connects to the board and nothing seems to be fried, and when I switch on the system the main IC's get warm like usuall. Ive tried a complete reset and left it to sit for a week and still no luck. Just wondering if anyone had anymore advice before I bin it thanks for the help.

Fraid I'm useless when it comes to N64s but Damn, that looks a great case.

Thanks I am realy happy with how the case turned out, its amazing what you can do with car bondo and a days of sanding wish the N64 would work then it would be all done. O well might have to bite the bullet and buy a new one off Ebay.

Sorry double post I just noticed that the CPU is heating up at a much faster rate when the system is switched on compared to the RCP and Ram chips, is this normal?

Well, yes and no. The CPU will heat up more quickly in intense games, but if it just gets instantly hot when you turn on the system, the board is toast.

Nice case, though. Vacuum-formed?

Na not vacumed formed, its made outa sheet metal and plastic then covered in 3M car bondo. I thought it would chip easily but I dropped it a little while back and it didn't chip.

If you put 7 volts into the controller, where only 3.3v is ever supposed to go, it is quite possible that that went back through the controller into the system and fried at least one chip, maybe a few.

The battery's terminals should never be exposed, if you had bypassed the protection circuit with that short circuit then stuff could have exploded.
