Portable Gamecube Log!

Okay, Ive had a small change of mind, not sure if I want to make a Laptop or a handheld.
But so far I taken apart the 'Cube (dammned nintendo security screws! )
Removed the digital output connector and the serial ports, and am soon going to resolder the resistor board. Ill upload pictures later, but for now, anybody got any ideas on wether I should do a laptop or a handheld?

As I promised, pictures!
Now first thing I needed to do was take apart the 'Cube, I did this with relative ease using the "melted pen" trick
then I unscrewed all the components and took them apart, those small screws were a real hassle and they just kept stripping! BLAAHRGH!
Now when I finally had all the components apart, It was time to remove those god dammned serial ports! I dont know why nintendo even put them there, because theyre never used anyway! (apart from the Gameboy player)
So using Kasars guide, I got out my pliers and got to work, I getly pulled and wiggled for about half an hour before decided to use brute force and tear them straight off, luckily nothing broke


I tested it and all works! Yay!
As all was going fine, I decided to try to rewire the disc drive and make it slimmer, unfortunaly I broke the screwdriver for those tiny screws when I was using it to fend of Giant Demon Robots from Hell! (they wanted my notepad) So I guess We'll have to wait untill I buy another one


And I think Im going to make a verticle Gameboy style portable! Ideas for colour anyone?

If you do black and purple, you'd have to make it UV reactive and have purple blacklight LEDs.

I was thinking of having a small cut out shape that glows purple, like the orange on the front of the actual Gamecube when its turned on.

Edit: I could have it just below the screen, and also use it as a power indicoator, so it flashes when the battery is low, or turns red ect.

Just a small update, I managed to open the disc drive, and Ive slimmed it down a little bit, but I was having trouble finding a case. I might just go with a project box and frankencase the grips of the controller into the back, and go gameboy style, then paint it the Gamecubes purple. What do you guys think? and sorry for no pics, Ill take some wen i get hold of a camera

Sorry for the triple post, nobody comments, doh!
Anyway today i got my project box and its a little smaller than I wanted but it was the biggest there was.
Its about 8.5" by 4.5" if I remember correctly (I can't find y measuring tape) so I'll need to slim the mobo a little at the sides.
I am going to have a memory card slot for port A so you can transfer files, and a BIG internal memory card for slot B so you can store all your extra stuff that doesnt fit on the main memory card.

Now whats the best way to slim the Gamecube Mobo Widthways (height doesnt matter) any help would be REALLY appreciated. I know you can cut off the gold rim, but I need to go further but am scared I'm going to cut traces, so how?
