Please help with controller

I have searched and searched these forums and i can't find an answer, so i'm forced to be humble and ask


how in the world do i connect my controller to the motherboard after i've taken the ports out?

Cut the controller's plug off, then solder the wires directly. You can either: use your multimeter to follow where the wires should go (open your controller and follow from there to where it went originally) OR you can look up a diagram that tells you where the different colored wires go.

i have another question. where can i get rubber topped tact switches. i can't find any except for the terrible, stiff, clicky ones that sound like i'm smashing beetles every time i push a button. (and yes, i have gooogled it.)

the "clicky" part is made by the actual tact switch. not the plastic cover.
i think it would be better just to harvest the n64 cont board if you want the different feel

Incorrect. Membrane switches don't have normal tact buttons under them. They are standard carbon-backed membranes. He was referring to the fact that he could only find standard-issue tact switches.

By "plastic cover" were you referring to membranes?

I'd have posted those, but some people like the 2-leg design better.

you guys are uber helpful. thanks i had no idea they were called "membrane" switches, i'm definitely gonna pick some up this week.
