N64p A/V options

Post by nmc »

Hi Guys, I'm just starting my first N64 Portable project and am not sure how to hook my screen to my N64 console..

I live in PAL land so i believe that none of our consoles could output RGB.

The screen i'm using is a 5.6" Sharp TFT from a portable tv. It has composite input on the main board but i removed the screen and its board from the unit hoping to be able to use it on its own and found that it has a IR3Y26A chip which has 2x RGB inputs but from what i can tell no s-video or composite.. i was hoping i could connect it directly using the RGB pins but i guess that wont be an option with a PAL N64..

Is there any way i can do this or will i have to use both boards to allow composite input?? I could take some photos if that helps.

Cheers,

nmc

if your sure rgb works then just get an NTSC Nintendo 64 and swap the PIF chips.
or find a French n64

Just ask in the Trading Post, I'm sure someone's fried a n64 and not killed the PIF...

excuse my noobness, but if i install an NTSC PIF in a PAL console would this effectively make it ntsc ie. my PAL games will no longer work?

maybe i'd be better off trying to find a way to input composite to my screen
