Hard Drive spindle motor -- how do i make it spin??

Post by AngelArm1110 »

im working on a little demo model project, and for it, i need to rig up a little driver circuit, or something to make the brushless, sensor-less, hard drive spindle motor spin.

one of these, lol

the motor has 4 terminals, if that makes a difference.

so if theres anyone who knows how to accomplish this, your input would be greatly appreciated

Two wires are voltage, the other two are sense for spindle speed. Take a look at sites for making harddisk speakers for more information.

actually, after further research, i found this:

its a driver board for a stepper motor, so yea, problem solved :D

All the ones I took apart were three phase motors. Umm... delta configuration IIRC.
