Nintendo 64 Battery, V-Regulator and Cartridge De-Soldering

Hi. I am making a N64 Portable and I know that there are heaps of guides for the battery system, but I need a direct answer

I have a 9 Volt Li-Ion (Lithium Ion) battery - 5.3Ah (5333mAh)


Now, if I put a voltage regulator - that would need its own heatsink right? Because 9.0V to 3.3V is a fair amount of heat to be dissipated...

What pins do I wire the battery to? I saw a diagram here (http://forums.benheck.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=14556) but I dont get it as it is all over the place :/


Also, is there a diagram on how to remove the game cartridge slot?
And do I need the bottom slot (All I think it is for the CD and other stuff - right?)

You use a switching regulator from Ti . A PTH0800 . It doesn't get hot.

Also the bottom connector is not needed and is usually removed.

I de-solderied the cartridge port (And removed permantly the bottom one for I still think, the CD drive attachment?)

Anyway, I am going to extend it to the front and mount it like marshall did with his as I am trying to make one basically the same as his. It is a great design!


Anyway, I will most likly make a new thread and make it a development page (Photos etc...) like people do on this. And also add it to my website (http://www.haunted360.webs.com/)

you do plan on dissassembling your jumper pack right?
also you can chop it down significantly

Haha, I think I know you - what name did you go by?

Uh and yea, I am opening the jumper pack and going to soldier it to the MoBo

Now to hear from 'marshallh' (Marshall) if he will send me plans or his case design for reference


If not, I will have to remake it from his photos, which will be time consuming of course...
