Portal free on Steam for PC and Mac

Post by collinE »

Just thought I'd let everybody know that you can get Portal free on Steam until May 24th. Since Steam is available on Mac now, you can get it for that, too. I think there are some other free games right now if you create a new Steam account.

Servers are kinda busy right now because of it, so it may take a few tries to download it.

Sweet, now I just need a computer good enough to play it.

Note, you don't have to download it right now. You can just add it to your library and download it whenever.

Now there is no reason not to have played Portal.

I made it probably 90% of the way through on a 360 without a storage device. Then I got stuck and had to stop before I went insane. I knew what to do, but I couldn't quite get the execution right. It's a great game, gives your brain a good workout.

In one of the advanced maps, it becomes a sphere. Damn near blew my mind.

Unfortunately, I'm a 360 guy and Portal doesn't do gamepads very well on PC. Looking up and down doesn't seem to register and some googling revealed there was an issue with this. Oh well. I'll try and dig up a mouse.

I'm excited because of Steam coming to Mac. I'm sure I'm one of the few...

I'm enjoying my free Portal. I hadn't bought it previously, and now I'm kinda glad. Free is good.

Fight MS Paint abominations! If you don't have a camera, go here, and pick something 3 megapixels or higher.

You're not alone. I'm dual-booting with 7, so I'll have whatever runs on Mac on my Mac side, and and everything else on Windows.

On a side note, my girlfriends birthday was a week ago, and her little sister made her a Portal cake for her birthday. It was delicious, no lies.
