Smaller Cartridge

I realize that this may sound stupid...I'm new to the scene and just have no idea...

So I was wondering if there was a way to rip game data (and save data) from an N64, NES, SNES cartridge, etc. and somehow put it on a smaller cartridge to make a smaller portable. Of course you would have a similar cartridge slot inside the portable. Somebody please let me know if this is possible and why/why not.

You can get flash cartridges for most of those consoles that you can put roms on, but I think the boards inside most of them take up most of their cartridges, but I may be wrong. They also tend to be very expensive.

So by using a flash cartridge, I could minimize the size of a portable N64?

Say I put the games on a SanDisk flash memory card or something. Could I make the N64's machine play it with some modding?

I don't know if you could do that. What I'm talking about is an actual N64 cartridge, made by a 3rd party, that has the capability of playing your games (often from a memory card).

It's easy to make cartridges slimmer, but to use them as such, you would need a slimmer cart slot.

most cartridges can be trimmed easily height and width wise as well.

Hmm...I think the cartridge slimming is more what I was looking for. Thank you for your responses! I'll look into doing that more in a bit.

NES games typically have a lot of unused space inside of them you could trim off. Also, you could use 60-pin Famicom cartridges instead, which are already smaller by changing the wiring to work, as the NES and Famicom are the same, except different regions.
