A standard camcorder cable will work if you switch the order you plug it in. Or you could just buy an ipod AV out cable...

You need a cable that plugs into the sync port instead of the headphone port. Like this $6 one.

damn, that means I have to buy something.

can an ipod display everything on video out, or does it only work when watching videos? because it owuld be pretty cool to get an ipod with a broken screen and consolize it or hook it up to a psone screen.

I think the Classic can output through the headphone jack, but there has to be a special chip in the cable to enable it. Zunes (before the HD) output everything through the AV out, so your idea would work with them.

The reason I ask for this is because I found another Memorex on clearance at toys r us for $40. I know I can use the batteries/charger, speakers, and audio amp from it. That alone makes it worth while. What i would like to do though is be able to use the screen. The only input is an ipod plug. Thats why I was wondering if the ipod outputs composite or rgb or component video.

I got one of these last year and never could find any information so I sold the screen on here to someone to try to figure out. They have 3 of them here and I would hate to have to waste 3 perfectly good screens. They are 8.4 inchs and less than a half inch think with board.

Here's the pinout for the iPod dock connector:

Looks like there are pins for both composite and S-Video. Just need to figure out which ones your screen uses for its video input. 8)

Thank you very much for this. It is just what I was looking for. Does this mean that the screen will work for a portable since it takes composite and s-video.

Yes, your screen should work for a portable.

Sam, read the thread. He's got an iPod dock with a screen. He doesn't want to use the iPod screen
