is there any way to hack the wii to where you can save gamecube games as well as wii games to the system.

Not to the system, but there is a homebrew program that lets you transfer save files from a gamecube memory card to an SD card, and vice versa. And I think there's also an SD to gamecube slot converter, if you don't have a real memory card and don't feel like getting one.
