Dreamcast Laser Fix

I suppose i posted this in the wrong place? I dunno, but please help.

I brought a multimeter today and following this :

Default Value (US/UK) = 1.00 Meg Ohms

Adjusted Value (US) = 1.06 Meg

Adjusted Value (UK) = 1.60 Meg

I have NO IDEA how to test this out? I connect the multimeter probes to the POT and i dunno what setting to put my multimeter on? It has a dial with like "2k, 200k" etc..

What do i put my multimeter on?

Those are the ranges. Start high, then move down. For example, if you have a resistor (or pot), start at the highest range, then move down untill it doesn't show a value. Auto-Ranging DMMs are a lot easier to use.
