The superior method is the charge/play switch that SS drew up. And this has nothing to do with the amount of space, that has do do with the amount of electricity it uses. That isn't going to change at all. The N64 won't run on less than 4 megs of RAM, I guarantee it.

What charge and play switch?
Also I was talking about replacing the 2 ram chips with 2 4 meg chips, it's more efficient then using 2 2 megs and 1 4 meg, and it only draws 700 mA at 8.5 volts. Daftmike confirms this, it's in his old worklog as well.
