Please explain exactly what it is you want to buy and what you want to do with it, preferably in complete sentences. I have no idea what on earth you're looking for.

A WiFi controller IC (integrated circuit) is the controller chip inside a WiFi-enabled device that handles the radio communications. It's completely useless unless you know how to build the supporting hardware and software to run it.

Okay, so you're trying to get your Gamecube online, and you want to do so using WiFi? If that's the case, all you need is a wireless access point, no need to build a whole computer for that. Here's one:

No. An access point (Which was linked) works within the network as a way to move ethernet ready devices into said wireless network. The most you might have to do is plug it into a computer once to set up some basic information. Aside from that, you just plug in an ethernet cable to whatever you wifi-zed, and your golden.

Why don't you make sure you can do what you want to with the GC broadband adapter? It looks to be about as useful as a steering wheel in a train. The wikipedia article about it says there are very few games that use it. Much better to just get a Wii if you want to play online Nintendo games, in my opinion.

There were 3 games. Phantasy Star Online, Phantasy Star Online 2, and the Phantasy Star Online 1 + 2 combo pack. And, Nintendo does not use this service anymore, so you would have to connect it to someone's private server to play. All in all, I think a steering wheel on a train would be much more useful.
Edit: Apparently they had different names. But it was just Phantasy Star that used it.

If you can get online with Melee, I would be willing to bet that you would have very few opponents. Brawl online may be terrible (I've never played it), but at least there will be other people to play against.

i quite like the Brawl online, it's a lot better than games where you can't battle anyone unles you have a friend code. and melee doesn't have online... i think i saw something in the wikipedia article about playing online with games that weren't meant to... you might wanna read that.

I think you can LAN it, and use some tunneling software (ex. XLink Kai) to simulate a LAN game over the internet. I found this video, seems like it could work.
