PTH08080 Regulator and Controller Mod Questions

Post by Abbott »

Man, did I pick a bad day to post. At least everyone celebrates :P But I was a little confused about the regulator with all of the different diagrams out there. I am using the PTH08080WAZ for mine, and I referred to Skyone's pinout here:
http://skytroniks.com/images/3v228v2.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; (from this thread: http://forums.benheck.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=35113" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;)
to Harshboy's diagram, of course (even though he used a PTH08000), and to jeffslot's pictures here:
http://forums.benheck.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=23433" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
So far I have what is drawn up in Skyone's diagram, but the gray wire according to jeffslot seems to be the voltage out? Like the line I would connect to the N64 in Harshboy's diagram? But then in Harshboy's it seems like I would connect pin 5 to the N64 while in Skyone's it looks like I would connect pin 3 to the N64 both using the gray line as the negative line. I just have three different diagrams telling me what to do, and I am wondering if someone could clear this up for me c: Thanks.

I was also wondering about my internal controller situation. I have two controllers like this one:
http://i40.tinypic.com/2vd34ah.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; (It says Playtech at the top, in case you were wondering)
and I would really like to utilize that GameCube stick mod, but I hate the D-pad and the L and R buttons on this controller. I have an official N64 c ontroller as well, so I was wondering if I could mix and match the two when I am chopping them up. I plan on building my controller like this:
http://forums.benheck.com/download/file.php?id=394" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; (found here: http://forums.benheck.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=36866" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;)
I want to use two controllers because I tried soldering to the traces and I feel like I did all right, but I think that the wire is too close to where the actual D-pad will be pressing down and I think that will only bear problems. I was thinking that I could chop up the official controller to use its buttons whenever I extend everything but I could use the third party controller as the base so I can still use the GameCube Stick. Will this work? Has anyone tried this before or even had any problems with this brand of controller or any of that? Thanks.

Thank you very much for reading all of this. Any help is much appreciated and if anything is confusing or I didn't elaborate enough please let me know so I can help you help me!

Edit: I took out the spaces between the words that were changed during the April Fools prank to prevent any further confusion

That controller looks like a Yobo and many people have used that before, it will work just fine with a GC analog stick, just follow the guides. Now if you're referring to replacing the C buttons with a GC C stick, that's another story, though I see no reason why this couldn't work either. Also, may I ask what you mean byusing two different controllers? Did you mean to essentially extend one controller (or just the pads) to the other? (Kind of like using two to make one, if that makes sense. Similar to this pic, which I stole from crapload's post.)

With regards to the pth08080 waz, my suggestion would be to use Skyone's diagram and ignore jeffslots' photos, that seems to be the standard set up and it's worked for me.

So I should connect pin 3 to the N64 and just leave 5 alone completely then? This is what I am supposed to do?

But as for the controller, I was thinking about doing that but mixing them like this:
http://i40.tinypic.com/vn1ft1.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
because I would be able to swap out the stick if the completely in tact controller is a third party controller, right? And I just hate the L R and D-pad on the controller, so I was wondering if I could use an official controller for the chopped up fragments so I wouldnt have to deal with the wheel looking D-pad. Would this work? As for the tact switches, would i use them just for A B C L R and Start? Or would i use them for the D-pad too? where should I get these tact switches? Thanks for all the help!
