NEED LOT OF HELP!

Post by Talakoski »

Ok so I have just joined this and I am not an extreme hacker or modder and I am not that good with this stuff. I have modded 360 controllers fixed 360's and have done hacks for X-Box. The thing that has amazed me the most is the protable N64. I really want to build one that is handheld. I like the Darth 64 and ones like that but they are to pricey for me to purchase. That is why I would like to build my own. The only problem is I have no clue what to do. I know i need the N64, PSone screen and thats about it that I KNOW OF (Theres probably a lot more things). I was just wondering if there was a good tutorial with putting together the portable handheld N64 and making the case, adding buttons, volume control, batteries, headphone jack and other accesories I may have left out, all in one easy to follow and detailed tutorial that will work well. I am not sure if theres one of those on this site because everything has its own thread I just need to know what to do for everything and what I need. thanks hopefully someone can understand me and help... :D

Should be in the N64 section :P
You will need the following:
N64
Ps1 or zenith screen(Easiest to start with imo)
3.3v regulator(TI has free samples)
7.4v 4700mah battery(most common in N64p's)
A controller or 2
A Soldering Iron
Desoldering Iron
Dremel
Solder
Wire
Miscellaneous tools
Sand paper
... Can't think of more At the moment.
PM me with questions or if you need links to parts or diagrams

So will these tutorials help me build the entire thing? Also will they work?

Read the sticky's at the top of the N64 section. They contain most everything you'll need to know. Also read the stickys in the Case Construction and the Portable Screen Hacking section, and the Reference Section is a good place to look into, especially the Batteries part.

If you have more questions, please ask in this thread! We'll be happy to help you out and answer questions! Good luck!

Does it take too much work and time to make a N64 portable?

Sorry for the double post. I have just found this post http://forums.benheck.com/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=36904" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; . It has a link to a website that has free cases that might be good for a N64 case? Can someone tell me which case would be good for it and possibly work? I see that they open up revealing there inside, would I not want that? Thanks :D

I'm pretty sure all of those are too small.
Life of Brian used one of those for his 2nd noacp.
Keep looking.
Do you want to try a polycase?
Search around http://www.polycase.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I recommend them or vacuum forming for an N64p case.

Yeah this poly case looks good. What one would you recommend for a N64 portable. Would it fit well?
