Feedback in Profile

Could we add a thing that allows us to link to the feedback thread in our profile under the avatar?

I don't understand what feedback means. or the 1,2,3. Explain
It takes a big man to cry, but it takes a bigger man to laugh at that man.

People leave feedback in the Feedback thread on their trade to tell other people how their trade went. The 1,2,3 would just be links to each feedback left.

Thing is, making it work like that would be a pain to code and would be irrelevant outside the Trading Post.

How about a subforum in the TP for feedback? If you sell something (or have sold something in the past), you make a thread titled with your username. Then when people buy things from you, they can leave feedback like "A++++++++++++++==Would buy AGAIN!" or "PS2 arrived as smashed debris". It's already integrated with the forums, wouldn't rely on one person to keep it up to date, and as an added bonus it would let you see who trades a lot.

Feedback posts could follow a template like this, for consistency and relevance:
I bought/sold something from/to this person
Item(s):
Date:
Link to Thread:

Please rate your experience from 1 to 10:
Packing Job:
Speed of Shipping / Payment:
Communication:
Overall:

In a few of the Forums I help with we did it this way :

Start a subforum called Buy/Sell Feedback.

Then in that sub-forum there would be threads with just the members name as the thread title. That's where all their feedback would go.

Then basically let's say I traded with Triton, I would search to see if there was already a "Triton" feedback thread. If there was I would leave feedback in it. If not I would start one and then everyone else would leave feedback in it from then on.

We didn't let people start their own threads as that would be self-serving. And we didn't let people comment in their threads because it's not a discussion , it's feedback from a person who has a right to give good or bad. If someone gave bad feedback it was just up to the trader to have enough good feedback to make up for it :)

This was the way I have done it in several forums.

Here is the Rules Thread I always make , I'll just quote it :
Welcome to the Trading Post Feedback Forum

This forum main purpose is to allow users to leave and find feedback feedback for other members.

Please try to be fair to other members. Think about your feedback before you leave it, and try to solve problems and communicate with the buyer/seller before leaving feedback.

Also this is not a discussion forum. Only post feedback for YOUR transactions with the member. Do not respond to other members posts.

Here's how it works :

1. First do a search for an existing feedback thread. :

Searching for Existing Feedback Threads

Click the "Search" button in the top right corner of the page.

Click "More Search Options"

A. The Right Way -- "Search by Keywords"

Using the "Search by Keywords" box limited to the Trading Post Feedback Forum will return any thread which contains the person's name in the thread title. This is what you want to use.

Under the "Search Where" box, click on the Trading Post Feedback Forum which is under "Community Interests". that way you are only searching in the Trading Post Feedback Forum.

B. The 'Wrong' Way -- "Filter by Member Name (optional)"

Avoid the "Filter by Member Name" box. This will only return results where the person you're looking for has started the thread themselves, which is not allowed. So someone searches this way, finds no results, and starts a new topic and that's basically how we get dupe threads here.

If you do not find a thread for a forum member :

2. Start the thread and then leave the first feedback for the member.

If you are starting a thread for a user who does not already have one, please use the members username as the title of the thread.

Correct:

JoeTrader

Incorrect:

JoeTrader's feedback thread
JoeTrader's feedback
JoeTrader is a lousy seller
etc.

Be sure to post enough information to be useful to other members.

Example :

QUOTE
JoeTrader

Bought a Psone Screen from JoeTrader. He shipped really fast and the screen was just as he described it. An excellent seller !!

You might also want to PM the member you are trading/buying/selling with and let them know you left feedback so they can return the favor.

And please don't start a thread for yourself. Ask someone you've dealt with to start it smile.gif

Dupe threads will be deleted with the information merged to the appropriate thread.

Hope this is helpful. Please pm me if you need help
By the way that is my creation but feel free to use it if you decide to do it :)

oohh :) that makes sense and I should have gotten that.

If it's too hard to code, then I would agree with the subforum ideas. I think it would be better than none... unless two years from now it's crazy long like the member list.

Yeah, I thought about that, but I thought maybe there already was a phpbb3 extension somewhere. Oh well.
I like the subforum idea as a cleaner feedback system. Then SonyPortablizer doesn't always have to keep updating it.

That's how it works on TheBestCaseScenario (feedback subforum), and it works out very well there.

Are you going to add a Rules thread like the one I posted so everyone will know how it works? :)
