Battery and Power. Help me make sense

Post by Carmany »

Looking at the wiring diagram a lot of people use. It says you ca use a 9 Volt battery, a majority of the modders use a 7.2 volt DVD battery. If the N64 requires 12 and 3.3 volts how do you achieve the 12 volts needed. I know you can use the TI chip to get 3.3, but am I missing something to get the 12?

The N64 doesn't need 12 volts, it only needs 7. The power supply just happens to use twelve. Right, experienced people?

You got it. The 12v line will run off 7.2v and higher.

Thanks to both of you. So the motherboard says 12 but can run on as little as 7.
